you'd have to have a valve cover duplicated from yours out of metal, then have it dipped in chrome...

The valve cover is metal, the engine cover is plastic. It can be done.

Check this out, now that's a thing of beauty.

OutCnrU's valve cover.

It's probably the strut bar that confused you... the OEM tC one is Hotchkis is a single bar - the OEM xB one is the 2 bar one like that above.

Actually he said he spray painted it with engine enamel.

I was thinking about a chrome valve cover myself. I read that its made from magnesium... i wonder w/ mother metal polish and some elbow grease if it could shine? any one tried it? i see it been a while since any action!

OK, after reading this thread I decided to paint mine with some of that "chrome" spray paint. It actually came out pretty nice but as I am sure you all know, it ain't chrome!!!
I put on a half dozen light coats followed by one moderate coat. Let it dry then actually buffed it a little. That did in fact bring out a little shine, but since the origional cover material has a little pebble texture, the shine isn't real smooth.
Unfortunately I do not have a digital camera handy. Will try to get one tomorrow from a friend and post a shot or two.
