Cigarette Power when car is turned OFF HELP
I want my Cigarette Lighter Port to be powered when I turn my car off. So if i have a cell phone plugged in, it will charge while the car is off. I have a 2005 Scion TC.
I was wondering what the safest way to do this would be.
Thanks.

I left the factory outlet alone & added 3 additional outlets. I stopped at the local Earmark audio & bought a 4 position fuse block so each new outlet has it's own fuse. I have an '05 xB, and put 2 just above the floor in the center console, and 1 in the back hatch area, just below the access panel on the side.
This way, the factory outlet turns off with the ignition, all the others stay hot. I use them to charge camera batteries when I'm at a shoot. I bought the outlets from a local marine store... they have rubber dust caps attached, looks good when they're closed up that way.

of all the vehicles i've owned, i've never had one that the ignition kills the power to the cig. lighter. i want to power my gps unit there, but it gets switched off every time i turn my xB off. guess i may have to add the add'l outlets like you did. where on the fuse panel did you wire it in?

I ran the wire directly to the battery.... I also plan on running a ham radio from the fuse block, and need to run off the battery to elimate the possiblty of alternator noise in the signal. I run a Garmin GPS on one of the outlets quite a bit..... Doesn't shut off during stops................
