Default custom earth kit

hello my name is shawn. first off i dont own a scion but i am in the same family. i have a previa that im working with. previa (estima in japan) is one of the most popular "wagons" to fix up in japan. after i get through my previa will look more like it belongs to the scion family. anyways i wanted to make a custom earth kit for my car because there's nothing (stateside anyways) that i want to spend too much of my money on. what are the best points to ground? i will probally use a 6 point system. thanks

These things are rip offs. All you do it go to a car audio shop buy some 4guage and connectors. Just look at all the points already on your car and replace them. Plus run a couple extra. Your not going to hurt anything. Just make sure some connect to the neg of the battery and on the other side of the engine to the frame. I usually put about 10 points when I make then for cars at work.

Even if you have to buy it off ebay its still cheaper to get it yourself 3guage roll and 20 4guage connectors.

Thanks James

Has anyone ever seen any evidence that these things help at all? I know people like things that look fancy and I know that people love modding their cars, but AFAIK, these things are a total waste of money and time. Do you really think there are things like your engine, alternator, etc, that aren't grounded? They make no contact with pieces of metal that are touching the frame? I find that pretty hard to believe, especially with the stock grounding in there. It's not like your car has been underwater for the last 10 years - it would take some pretty serious corrosion to screw this up.

I'd love to see it if anyone has any sort of EMPIRICAL test results that really show (maybe using a multimeter or something) that the grounding is improving something.

i would imagine that stock, its probally already grounded. but with an earthing kit you get more grounding so everything electrical will flow better. i guess.

doing a ground upgrade on these vehicles will not give you the results that most places state....like randode said you will notice a lower idle on the motor and if you have a stereo system in the vehicle you will notice a small gain in audio output...

for instance i upgraded my big 3

alt to bat
bat to ground
motor to ground

i noticed a drop in my idle speed to 500 from 750 and i also notice some affect on the audio side
