Default Custom Enclosure in xA ((NO 56k))

Hey everyone, I just finished up my new box for my Kicker 15 and figured I would share some pics.

Lots of pics below... I have tons of the building process. This was my first attempt at this kind of a box. My last setup consisted of four 8" Kicker Solobarics the old school kind. I have pics of that box as well if anyone is interested I custom made the box for my xA.

The beast:

The design:

Fully assembled:

Lots of Bondo:

Another:

Done sanding:

Amp mounting space:

Primer round one:

Filling pinholes in primer:

Primer round 2:

Time for paint:

Another:

Sub in place:

Another:

Electronics on the back:
[/img]

In my car:

Back side:

The in-car pics are kinda lousy I can get better ones at some point. The box is pretty heavy but I can still move it around myself w/o a problem. Please excuse the very messy garage it isnt usually that bad, this project just took me about 3 weeks on and off so things started to get messy.

That looks amazing! Very impressed with the work, especially when the best we've managed is building custom boxes just with wood

That is awesome I know I'm still trying to get the money to get a sub in my xA right now, but I don't think mine will be nearly as nice. Mine is just going to be a basic box with subs. Again though that is sick and awesome job on the work.

Fiberglass would have been way easier bro. Just a suggestion. How much does that think way?

Thanks for all the compliments!

Yes, the box is heavy and fiberglass would have been a good option but I have never worked with fiberglass before and I do have some bodyfiller experience so I figured I would go this route. I should put it on a scale sometime and see what it really weighs I meant to do that originally but was too anxious to hear it.

It sounds amazing I am very pleased with the way it turned out.

"From CNN: Reports say travelling aliens are ____ed off because some hoodlum broke into their UFO and stole their Cosmic Ultrasonic Reverberator Device. The Aliens believe the break in occured while relieving themselves between constructing crop circles and turning a cow inside out. Confused, the police have no leads and aren't positively sure what a Cosmic Ultrasonic Reverberator Device is. The Aliens have offered a large sum of their own currency for the return of this device, or Earth will be destroyed. Police ask if anyone has any information, to contact them immediately."

Thanks for posting the pics of the process, I've always wondered how these enclosures are made.

Yea the crazy looking grill and the general design of the speaker kinda gives it that WOW factor when you pop the hatch of the xA. A lot of people have never seen a sub like this and having it fit in the back of such a small car is unique and I like to do things different.

damn that looks nice, you should have a step by step, and supplies and tools needed on how to make one so we can custom our own, just an opinion

Actually I have Tanabe DF210's and it sits perfect.... drops it 1.8 in the front and 2.2 in the rear as it sit right now with the box the rear it is 1/4" higher than the front.

What constructive first post. Lets see what you have fabricated?

ashraf2500 damn that looks nice, you should have a step by step, and supplies and tools needed on how to make one so we can custom our ow
Thanks I will see what I can do. I have quite a few pics of the process if I get time maybe I can do a write up if there is enough interest...

rcstprez how many cubic feet is that box? I think it looks real good!
Thanks for the compliment! The exact airspace I do not know I need to fill it with something like packing peanuts and find it out. It ended up being too dificult to calculate with all the crazy angles and then with the speaker in place so I just did the best I could with the space I had. The box was originally designed to fit underneath the rear cover so it would be completely concealed but when I mounted the components on the back the cover didnt quite fit I may need to alter it a bit.

I wasn't dissing the sub! It looks good! That sub is some really off-the-wall design. If I didn't see the Kicker logos on it, I wouldn't know WTF it was! It definitely had me curious though!
