Default custom sub enclosure for 12" sub

I am buying a new Xb this weekend and have already picked up 2 phoenix gold amps and some mb quart component speakers. The only thing i'm having trouble finding is a custom sub enclosure for a 12" subwoofer. I guess I'm also looking for a nice amp mounting kit for my 2 octane r phoenix gold amps. The only custom enclosure I've been able to find for the xb houses a 10" amp. Any help with this is more than welcome.

Get your own enclosure built. I used the factory storage compartment and cover and cut it up to create an enclosure. I used a 10" but a 12" will work as well. Be creative.

He's right, the Snail Shell and the Double Shot enclosures will blow you away. One sub in that enclosure will equal 2 subs in a regularly built enclosure. To be honest, you couldn't build an enclosure for twice the price that compares.

Let me know your budget, your goals, and they type of sub you are planning on using and I will let you know what I have in stock or on the way. If you have roughly 9.5" wide x 14" high by 33" long, you're gonna be very surprised.

If you are not set on any one sub yet, I have an even bigger surprise for you and anyone who listens to your system. Ever hear 2 8" subwoofers sound like 2 15's???

Kind Regards,
Matt

SS boxes claim to be +13db over sealed boxes which is insanly good...but for the cheapest setup... figure what sub your going to use and build a ported box for it...i have 2 12" dayton dvc in a ported box tuned to 26hz and at full power there is absolutly no port noise just clean bass

Does anybody have any pics or links for these snail shell enclosures?

*EDIT*
Nevermind, I found it. It "looks" like a normal box, but I guess there is something different on the inside. :?

Go to "Store" then click "Snail shell".

Yea, it's alot different on the inside. I've seen alot of "knock-off designs" floating around but they aren't the real one, that's for sure. Alot has gone into that design, and you'll know it if you ever pull up against one

Kind Regards,
Matt

There's that link plus many others running around the Internet, all based upon the TL enclosure. But I can guarantee you that is not the "real" SS enclosure as the plans have never been released, and I have never seen or heard a knock off compare to the real thing. You'll know it if you ever compare the two side by side.

Kind Regards,
Matt

your some what correct and wrong the ss box has not had acctual plans for it because the box design is driver dependant....for instance a ss built for a re 12 will not work for any other sub...i was looking around powered4sound and there was guys that knew how to make these on that site that was willing to help/point you in the right direction but not give you the answers....

the only box design that has been the most secrective has been the 6.5" box design there has been many people asking questions about it with no luck at getting any answers...

The answers that are floating around on the forum are all based upon transmission line style enclosures and theories. Trust me, John nor Brian have released any plans to anyone. If the real plans were available, why is there such a huge waiting list for the enclosures and not more people making them themselves? I can tell you from owning the enclosures that the plans are somewhat close, but not right on, and I will leave it at that.

And as for one SS or DS not working with different subs, that is sometimes true and sometimes false. It all depends upon the T/S parameters. For example, the same enclsoure works perfectly using either a RE 8 or a Crystal CMP8. Even if a DS or SS is not "tuned" for a particular driver, it still may work, perhaps not always as good as if it was tuned, but in many cases better than a conventional enclosure.

Kind Regards,
Matt

I'll bite, what size works best for the back of an Xb? I want SQ over SPL, but when a Civic pulls up with a pennysaver system I can make his jaw drop. Like the single sub idea too...

Well, there are alot of options for the rear of an xB. Do you already have a sub or are you going to purchase a new one? You could run a single or a double sub configuration in that space with a whole host of subs. Do you also already have an amplifier you are going to use?
