Default Custom xB speaker install.

I was rather dissapointed to find out that Toyota had chosen to use speakers with a non standard mounting shape.

I had some Lanzar speakers (from back when Lanzar made good audio equipment) that I knew would fit, but I was going to need to install custom (read: home made) baffels.

Here are a few links to images of what I came up with.

I also built a box for a JL 10 that fits into the floor behind the rear seat (links below)

I am being a little lazy about the writeup, if you have any questions let me know.

pretty much everyone has made MDF baffles for the speaker mounts.... most aftermarket speakers have to have the 3/4" MDF inorder to have adequate mount depth...

good job on the floor, what space do you have in the enclosure?

its ~720 cubic inches. I decided that I would sacrifice performance for fit and finish. The amplifyer is mounted under the floor as well... The actual enclosure is really only just big enough for the sub.

The sound and response are reasonable.

If you don't mind me making a suggestion, stuff that enclosure with some polyfill as the sub's being suffocated... at least make it "think" it's in a bigger box...

nice F&F by the way..

Looks Good!! How about the back speakers. Do you need the spacer to mount anything in the back???? And will a 6 1/2 fit with no problems??? Thanks!!!!!

I modified the stock speaker housing for my 5.25" An MDF spacer would also work.

A 6.5" will not work without cutting, AFAIK.

I get jealous when I see those kick panels. I am considering buying some kicks from the dealer and having a go at the custom kick panels.
