Default Decision Help

Hey Guys,

I am having a hard time deciding on what to put in my xB. I recently bought this amp http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCP6001BD and now I need a sub to go along with it. I was either thinking of getting one 10 inch or one 12. I listen to mostly rock and every now and again I will pop in a hiphop CD. Here are the two subs I cannot decide on which to buy http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCPL3110 or http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCPL3112

Thanks for your help!

Well if you want your rock to sound good (catching all the drumrolls or w/e) you might want to go with something from image dynamics. Are you limited to only one sub or could you go with 2?

I use my trunk space a lot so I would like to stick with one sub.

almost perfectly!

you may even want to look at a JL 10W6 but they're a lot more spendy.

JL subs are amazing. i had one for 3 years with 500 watts (peak) going to it, with no issues. it lasted all the way to the day that some moron stuck a screw driver through it.

If you wired the w3 to 4 ohms it would match perfect. If you want it @ a 2 ohm load you would need to go easy on the gains. Aside from that try the IDQ 12, has better sq than the w3 imo, or the diamond audio cm3 12 (dual 4 ohm). The diamond audio runs 500w rms and is a nice sq sub, also very cheap.
Unless your going to run 2 of the w3s/ idqs i consider a single sub setup a waste of money. I wouldnt really run a sub over its rms rating but thats just me.. play it safe ya know.

Power doesn't blow subwoofers if not abused. I ran about 2k watts to 2 JL 10w3's vs 1k watts and it sounded much better and no issues. I've also pushed close to 2800 watts to a JL 15w3 with no issues, except my alternator so I backed it down to 700 watts.

The Punch series isn't all that great but that amp should be fine as long as you install it right and have it properly ventilated. Those subs won't make you too happy once you get to compare them to other subs. The JL W3 is a great all around sub for the money.

I know you can run more power to most subs, but id rather play it safe.

I think you're being overly cautious. In my short 6 years of car audio I have yet to blow any aftermarket speakers or subwoofers besides a crappy Infinity Perfect that couldn't handle 1400 watts. =P
