Just did the LED's in the handles on my new baby, and just wanted to say thanks for the idea! The look is just killer. Wound up putting one in each door handle, plus one in each air vent up front, plus 2 inside the cubbyhole below the AC controls, and one below the center console aiming down at the cupholders.

Just a quick note - I did the job without removing the door handles at all - REALLY made it go faster. I just took very careful note of where you all drilled your holes, and just went for it - worked perfectly, and no worries about breaking anything. Got the LED's from Autozone for $10 for a set of three.

Thanks again for the excellent writeup!

sweet. where'd you buy the LED's?

I'm thinking of some possible places for them in my tC.

Nice writeup and good pics.

Oh, and what kind of switch did you hook them up to?

I so badly want to put some LED's in my vents... I have absolutely no idea how to wire this stuff. Any direction you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. I am so anxious to do this I was thinking of finding some battery operated Christmas lites to throw in there! Please help before I get too desperate...

There's a thread on it in the ICE forum that you're going to want to check out. I put in a rather lengthy post on how to do it. Check it out here: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30710

I'm not sure if you could fit those in the vents. And if you could, they'd blind you when you turn them on Those things look bright!

yeah they are pretty bright, which is why we are slowly becoming the #1 choice for interior car lighting. our products are good for footwells, dome lights, trunk lights, or anywhere you want to put them inside your vehicle basically.

They're kind of expensive, $30 for one LED seems kind of steep.

MAX2k, thanks for directing me to the thread you had set up earlier. I might have overlooked it, and excuse my ignorance. But how and where do I wire the leds if I am putting them in the vents. I am going to try to put them in the vents without taking the dash apart. Someone had mentioned they were able to take off the speaker or somethng like that... I would also like to maybe put some lights in the door cubbyholes.

Any one have any recomendations for what color to use in a BCP xb? I would like red. but I know a lot of times when you use red it looks pink.....

Red LEDs are true to their color, but red cathodes are pink. It's pretty easy to wire them to the cigarette lighter or a switch.

Sorry - minor clarification. I DID remove the door panels - only two screws each, only takes a second. I just left the door handle attached to the steel of the door though when I drilled the holes.

What are the dimensions on these? I don't see it listed on the site there. Also, do you make focused LED emitters, or just the 180 type?

I do know that there is no reason to pay $30 for a LED

hahaha unfortunately thats too bad for you isnt it tough guy? If you know what kind of product it is, $30 is very good. By the way, for ScionLife members its 2 for $50, which you will still say is pretty expensive. Well we are doing quite well with sales, and if you saw what you are talking negatively about you'd know. haha youre a smart guy though arent you?

It'd be cool to see a comparison of one of these vs. a standard led.

Another thing cool to see would be a pic of the led install and then what it looks like when lit up. I see an amazing amount of light coming from the cars in the gallery, but what's the led configuration used to produce those results?

there is no fixed configuration really, you can put them virtually anywhere inside, the wires come with it and everything, all you need is a switch and you need to know how to install it, which is quite easy. those cars in our gallery are our show cars that have been in several shows in the past year, the exterior lighting is not yet available but the interior lighting is. what you see in the gallery is just an example of what you can do. some of those cars only have 2 LEDs - 1 in each footwell. some have more in the headliners, etc. My RS1 has 4 - 1 in each front footwell to light up the feet in the front, 1 in the rear middle to light up the rear floor, and 1 in the trunk to light up the trunk. we used red in mine because of the RS1's red/black theme. i dont have pics of them yet but i will soon. thanks.
