Default Door Lock wont respond?

Hey all...got a question...so all of a sudden my passenger side front door lock will not respond? The key fob will not budge it, nor will using the door lock button on either door. All other doors work just fine, the only way to lock/unlock that door is #1-by hand, or #2 with the key??? Any ideas what may have cause this, how to remedy??? Thx...

Default Same issue for me...I think.

I think I have the same issue. If I read this right you use the remote to unlock/lock the doors and it doesn't work? But if you use the key/or manually us the lock leaver you are able to?

This happens for me when the weather gets hot it seems that the plastic used around the lock leaver expands due to the heat. When it cools off at night the everything works.

The bad part about all this is the alarm still arms but the front doors do not lock. I have to manually turn the key in the lock sometimes on both doors.

You might want to try some WD40. Works for me when this happens.

It might be the door lock 'actuator'. I had similar problems with my driver side not locking. I did a search and people have had similar problems. Miraculously, my door lock is working...sometimes. Try to lock, then unlock, then lock again. It may work that way. It has worked for me. Good luck.

My left rear door has never unlocked with the button.
I heard it was an $80 actuator or something and that it's no fun to install.

So I've left it for 3 years now.

I work in a bodyshop, and we've had alot of cars come in with these problems. What I sugest you to do is take 5 minutes, take apart the interior door panel, and look at the metal rods that are connected to the button that goes up and down when the door is locked/unlocked. Sometimes, some are unhooked from where they are supposed to be and thats why they don't send the signal to lock and unlock.

I just got an '05 xB Release Series for my daughter. The driver side lock hasn't worked with the remote or the button since we got it. We assumed it was meant to be that way so that you'd be less likely to lock your keys in the car. We just push & pull the **** up & down to lock it. But recently the passenger side door would not unlock at all for a short period. The buttons didn't work, the key remote didn't work & the **** wouldn't budge up or down. Finally I came around with the key to try & unlock it. As soon as I inserted the key it unlocked by itself. I didn't even turn the key.

It was like the key completed a circuit & unlocked as if the button was pushed. I'm worried there's electrical issues now. The fuel gauge is always on empty now & the Check Engine, Trac off & VSC Lights stay on. I was hoping the lights being on could be fixed by cleaning the mass airflow sensor but before I got to it, the fuel gauge stopped working. Other than a low, slightly shaky idle it has been running well. I hope the gauge is just a bad fuse & the lights are caused by a dirty airflow sensor & the lock was a fluke. I hope there's not some kind of short or grounding issue with the electronics.

Hey! good choice of car I was basically begging my dad for one when we first saw them at the 2004 Chicago Auto Show LOL
I think if the drivers side door doesn't work with the remote or button the power lock is probably broke cause those two things do operate the lock. I've bound up the door lock system a couple of time. Maybe the door lock on the passenger door could be going bad. I'm pretty sure the passenger side is wired where you can unlock all the doors... like maybe it got jammed up and was turned enough for your key to bridge a connection. I've jammed up the doors a few times. I first thought when you pulled the lever the door would also unlock but no. you have to unlock it first. lol So if you yank on the lever without it being unlocked first you'll goof it up. Also this would be hilarious if if was all wrong and both of my doors are broke. Do yours unlock when you pull on the interior door handle?

The engine lights and come on for any little thing and you should get the Codes. The pump isn't too hard to get to if you're gonna change it... I'm sure you're already just resetting the trip meter every time you get gas? lol 310 miles and I'd need a fill up.

Several issues here, but let's start with the door locks. I'd be willing to bet that the lock solenoid - which actuates the lock when you push the remote button or the unlock button on the door - is shot. It's not a terrible job, but you do have to remove the inner door panel to get to it. I just replaced mine last week when I ran into the same issue and start to finish, I think it took about 45 minutes. The part is around a hundred bucks at a dealer.

As for your other issues, the first thing you need to do is get a code reader and see what codes you have. Based on your symptoms, you should have several. Then we can talk about fixes.

@2stroked, mrrcom, Hi, I have a new replacement door lock solenoid for the driver door. My car mechanic suggest to work on the door when outside temperature will be above 70 Degrees Fahrenheit. The door panel is made with plastic material. Those holders get easy broken in cold temperature. If not I need to leave the car over night in his heated garage.
So, I am waiting to fix this issue for the Months of May or June. I like to fix myself this car later.
Stay safe! Thank you.
