Hey guys. I need your opinions. I have a Kenwood head unit already so I don't want to buy another stereo that has the 7inch screen just for the screen. I want to buy a double din screen for the hole where the stock radio is, then I will install my HU in the oven or something. I need some opinions on the dd screen I should put in. if that makes sense. lol

Does the Kenwood play Dvd's? What do you want the DD to do?
I can come up with a million questions, but i'll let you fill in some of the blanks first.

 

Somehow I knew it was going to be you that replied to me...lol No, my Kenwood does not pay DVD's, but I am putting my Xbox in the xA and it plays DVD's. Basically I just need it to be a monitor to play my Xbox games and DVD's. Nothing too fancy, but I also don't want to buy a brand that I have never heard of you know?

 

It will be cheaper just to buy a screen and not a full double din screen. But just a plain screen will take some fabing posibly to fit and look right. I will find a few good brands and sizes to recomend to you.

Also Eclipse, Audio vox, pioneer, and down the list , all good brands, the Alpine's are some of the best and not a bad price for the first one. Sorry would have had more pics and #'s but some of the sites are down for maitnance or are loading way to slow.

 

So you're saying these are not dd monitors so I will have to fab a little bit to get them to fit in the hole? What will I have to build to secure them in the dd slot? thanks again for the help

 

I was gonna say i will take some measurments tommorow, but i forgot my car is in KY and not FL. It may take a little work, but i cant imagine much. But i got 7 days to help you figure somthing out.

There was a guy a while back doing custom fabs, send him your dash, he would put a 7" monitor + glass and seal it. It looked nice, buddy of mine had it on his Imprezza

Na the dude was accually preaty good.. not the entire dash just the front bezzle. Cost like $359 bucks or something, but that was mostly the monitor.

i've done a few of these as well.
i put the guys screen name (yelosub) on the inside of the glass in the yellow one.
also, the infared eye is behind the glass, not cut into the bezel like the post above.
