Default Dreaming of Column Shifted Automatic

of all the bB parts and JDMers out there
why has no-one done a column shift conversion

aside from it being on the wrong side of the column (left)
does anyone know what kind of work is involved

please help.....or at least crush my dreams in a constructive manner

sigh

Although it'd probably be too huge, maybe you could adapt a steering column shifter from a Previa or a 6 seat Avalon? It should be much harder than extending the wiring harness and deleting the center stack.

Finding the correct dash pieces and the seats will be hard tho. . .

it actually shouldnt be that hard - a hot rodder in my neighborhood was reminiscing about how some old hot rods had "push button" automatics, where the push of a mechanical link button pulled on the automatic drive cables and something ...etc.. ill try to find out more

I remember those. . . they still make kits for old school cars. . .

The problem with the xB, is if you want the full JDM effect, including the different dash pieces and the front bench straight.

^^ it'd be expensive to do an AWD conversion... may as well sell your xB and import a real bB from japan for ~$22k

No, it didn't. Your best bet would be a 6 seat Avalon.

I was just at the junk yard yesterday looking at column shifter assemblys, found tongs but didnt find any cables to go with them....

I purchased bench seats to put into the front so I will be moving my shifter assembly sometime soon.

I havent decided to go with a push button sifter or an actual lever. Id like to just have the mechanical one personally since I have an automatic.

Ill keep ya guys posted. Im going to spend a good part of today jsut staring at the stock assembly in my car.
