so im purchasing a dvd head unit with the flip out screen

im wondering if anyone has gotten it to fit with the flip down cover to fit

or does it have to be removed

i suppose either way is fine since im getting the touch screen dvd player not installed ever for 400 from someone who bought it for his WRX and never installed it

what do you guys think? toss it in even if i cant get the cover to work? or what

 

I second that question.I want to get a flip out dvd headunit also but ive heard it conflicts with the flip panel.thanks guys

 

For $400. I would definitly toss it in no matter....if not...you can sell it to me :D

 

I simply don't see how it could be done leaving the cover intact. Most flip-out single-DIN units are about 1" deeper than a std. HU, which will give you depth conflicts. I looked at it from every angle I could imagine, and when it came down to a choice between DVD vs. plastic flip cover, the DVD won hands down.

so you just cut through the flip... did you seal it down? or does it still flip up?

 

did you take the cover off before cutting into the flip?

 

The cover still functions normally, but as the HU is mounted on the OEM radio supports (no kit) there's not much to see back there.

 

hmmm thats interesting... might want to consider putting an overlay on it... or sealing it down or something... thats quite a neat idea... i was thinking of removing the door but that looks a bit more flush

 

i guess ill have to get the dvd player and play around with it
