Default DVD playing while car is in drive.

I am getting my indash dvd player installed tomorrow. I have a feeling that the people who are installing it are going to make it so dvds cant be played while the car is in drive. How can I disable this? I have the AXV-4024

idunno if this helps or not but i have a jensen dvd player in my 94celica (installed from circuit city) and the only way for it to play is when the car is in park ... but the installer told me that i can bypass it by just having the ebrake on one click. he said that it doesnt ruin the ebrake. i've driven w/ the indash for 6 months and no problems. (i have an auto btw though) hope that kinda helps?

if it anything like my alpine all i did when i installed it was replace the ebrake with a toggle switch. by that i mean running the wire to a toggle switch and from the toggle switch to a ground.

Just so you know, that is easy PC for a cop to stop you if you are driving around at night with a DVD going... just a heads up.

Yea, most audio places won't COMPLETELY hook up a bypass switch for you, cause it will cause them to get into trouble if you were to be ticketed for it. But, the solution is quite simple... Be forewarned that this is the way to do it and I cannot be held reliable for any actions you do from using it.

What you need:
Toggle switch
Extra wire (14 gauge or any other close in size)

What to do:
Find the brake and ground wires coming from the harness of your headunit. Wrap a wire onto the ground of the switch and tap that one into the ground wire on your wiring harness. Then, wrap a separate wire from the switch accessory (or whatever it is labeled on the switch you have, some are different. It'll be the opposite pole of 12V.) and tap that wire into your brake wire in the harness.

Start your vehicle up. Flip the switch once, then back again, then you should be all setup for movies down the road. What the swtich does is grounds out the headunit and makes it think the brake had been set. You'll have to flip the switch everytime you turn off your car.

Again, its YOUR OWN decision to do this. I only supplied the information on HOW TO do it. But, good luck and enjoy the film.

I have a kenwood DVT815 dvd flip out and I just straight-up asked the guy installing it to wire it so that it would work when I'm driving and he didn't say anything. I just had to re-tint my back window to make it pretty much blacked out so you can't see when I have a movie going. You will be fine as long as a cop doesn't just rollup right next to you. I've been pulled over for speeding and I had enough time to put the screen away and close the radio door.
