Dynamat show off idea (installed)
i was pullin apart my car today to get ready for sound deadening and started thinkin. With all the work that goes into sound reduction it too bad you dont get to show it off. i mean you will for sure know its much better sounding, but for a first time passenger they dont really notice. Im thinkin when I dynamat the hatch ill leave a cool shaped plexi window in the snap on cover just bigg eneough to show one of the logos. Ill prob wire some leds to the license plate lights and drop them in above the little winow for some illumanation, heres the concept. stupid idea??
i just finished deadening the hatch. i swear the more i do the more rattles i find, kind of a OCD thing i guess. my headliner is the biggest rattle i still need to take car of. i think im gonna wok on the window thing tommorrow. if i get it done ill post pics
I agree. Sounds like a good idea & should look pretty cool.
You are correct. It is a lot of work, especially if you do it yourself, to have nothing to "show" for it. I'm leaning towards dynamat for the box, but haven't decided for sure. Keep us posted!

ok i decided to make a whole new hatch insert so i dodn't jack up the stock one. I cut an oval window for viewing the logo. The piece is covered in faux fur to match my system but i think youll get the idea. in case you are lookin to make ur own insert like i did, i found a great construstion material. Those giant wite plasticy cardboard things you see advertising 2 liters at gas stations are perfect. the material is lite and easy to work with. installed pics tomorrow...but for now heres the piece i did in front of my green screen:

Okay, heres the installed pics. The plastic-ish material I used for this ended up being awesome for sound reduction. The stock insert wanted to vibrate with the bass. I also found some cool plastic screws to replace the clip so u dont have to use a trim popper every time. I wasnt super happy with the window size or shape so ill porb make a few versions I can Switch in and out ( need to make a night run to the local gas station for material). I want to do a bigger one that looks more like a cross section and cover it in normal auto carpet. anyway here are the installed pics. no LEDs yet didnt get a chance to look over the hatch wiring so i'll just tap into it later. For the record the material in the pics is black, lighting dosent do it justice, makes it look reddish.
