So are you getting static or a whine? The amp is only for subs, correct? I have never heard an engine whine out of a sub amp. Where did you put the amp and where did you ground the amp at? What type of LOC (line out converter are you using)? In 5 years of installing i have never had to ground and LOC. Sorry for so many questions, but if you answer these i might be able to help you troubleshoot the problem. Let me know.

^ Agreed. It sounds like a grounding problem if you are getting a whine when the engine is running. If the noise happens when the engine isnt running you probabally have another problem

its a static issue, and yes i only have the one amp hooked up to the one sub. im getting static in all of my speakers no just the sub. i spliced into the exstiting wires as to not cut them. as to the LOC im not quite sure ill have to check out the package, all i know is it had 5 wires that i was suppose to hook up, 2 for left, 2 for right, and one ground.

Try unhooking the ground to the LOC and see what that does. Did you double check to make sure the wire's are correct left and right and there polarity? If it is causing static in all your other speakers to, then it most likely is you LOC in some way. Let us know.

ok i think i fixed it, one the wires were crossed and 2 the ground wire on the rca converter wasnt hooked up. i revirsed them and it sounds a tone better. this is probably a stupied question but i hardly know anything about stereos so i want to know, why do people install sound deadner? what is it used for and what does it do? and thanks again for the help you did fix the problem.

they put it inside of door panels and under the carpet and such. cuts down on vibrations from the bass and eliminates rattles such as the infamous license plate rattle.

In the tech section, there's a post about having a noise free audio system that I think anyone with a stereo should read... if nothing else, just for a bit more of understanding...
