Default factory armrest help

I took all the seats out of the box today along with front door panels and the panels covering the rear speakers to put in new audio today. The system is in and sounds good but, for some reason my factory armrest is a little wobbly to say the least. I made sure to re install the two little metal hooks back to the bottom of the seat bracket ( one on each side ) but It still wiggles around somewhat. I did not remove the armrest or any of the center console today. I stuck my hand under the carpet in the floor boards to run wires to the amps under the seats. I just don't get it ?

I wish I had some pics to show this to you....

There is a screw holding the actual armrest into the new mounting bracket. Remove that one screw (on the back side facing the rear seat) You will find a pillar with a small ridge in it. Make sure that the metal wire bracket going under the seats is on top of the pillar. You may need to use a screwdriver to pry the wire bracket onto the top of the pillar. This is will put the stress back onto the metal wire bracket and pull it tight under the seat frames.

Sorry if this doesn't come out clearly...if not let me know and I'll take some pics for you later today.

This should help to make it a little easier to understand. The factory arm rest is two pieces, one mounts to the seat rails and the other mounts to the first piece.

Locate and remove the screw on the back of the arm rest:

Here is the location of the wire clamp where it attaches to the seat rail (this is the drivers side):

Lift off the top piece with the arm rest attached and you'll find the lower mounting tower:

The wire clamp hooks under the seat rails and then goes up and over the tower on the lower mounting piece.

If this is not seated in the groove the arm rest will be loose.

If the wire clamp is loose, use a flat blade screwdriver to pry the wire clamp up over the tower and seat it in the groove.

After the wire clamp is back in place in the groove,

Place the top piece of the arm rest over the bottom piece and reinstall the screw

Hope this helps.

My problem is that I can't figure out how to attach the wire clamp.

The pics are fantastic but I still can't see how the metal piece attaches to the seat rail.

Any help would be appreciated. I thought I could do this in 5 minutes.

Don't have a pic showing the clamp on the seat rail. If you line it up like this picture it will be in the right spot on the seat rail. Just place the hook under the rail and then attach it at the top of the arm rest post.

OK thanks.

I will give it another shot when tomorrow.

I guess I thought I would see something official looking to hook it into on the bracket.

Hook should face down, right?

thanks again

Hooks would have to face up to hold onto the rail.

THe instructions that came with it say to

"Lift rear of console and slide WIRE Clip under console with "hooks" facing down."

Weird, and why do you have to loosen the console screw?

See, why I am confused and now scared?

Hey thanks for your help.

I did get it on and got a better understanding of how the wire clip attaches after I removed those plastic things on the seat brackets.

It is HOOKS DOWN for sure.

Might be a difference in terminology, if the hooks are facing down and the force is pulling up, how does it hold onto the seat bracket?

yes-I agree.

I now see why you take the screw out of the console.

So, really you slide it under the console with the console slightly lifted and place wire clip with hooks down and then pull up which becomes hooks up and locks in place.

A piece of plastic helped slide in on and I pulled from front seat.
