Default Factory Enclosure Vs. Custom Enclosure.

or Should I get a custom box. I was planning on having the sub fire up. I have never made a box before. How much would it cost to get one made or to make one myself.

Sub Alone - $105
Sub in the Enclosure Above - $120

it looks 400 :?

thats not the point i guess. if you could get 105 for sub alone, or 120 for sub in box, go in box. especially if you have no expierence. ive made quite a few boxes for various cars and i dont know how to make one for $15. yea custom is cool... but this is a set up that is proven to work. go with boxed already

Circuit City Discount... We all know how small the tC is and the smaller the box the better. Custom boxes seem to be more expensive and bigger. Plus the factory one has the cool grill. Would a Custom box sound better?

that enclosure would look funny in the back of the tC because it's made for a truck......personally I'd make my own box......

You obviously have no clue about enclosure design and application.

if you're wanting to get the box made by kicker, don't get the sealed truck box.....get this one....vented hatch/coupe box.......

Ive made a number of boxes, from 8w6's, to MB Quart Premium series, to a lot in between. Generally, i've spent in the neighborhood of $30-50 for a sealed box for a single sub. That includes 3/4 mdf, wood screws, silicone, braces, carpet, and a quick disconnect for speaker wires.

this link will give you some very basic pointers:

Vented sound too loud in my opinion. Plus that box is too big. Making a box is the only thing I haven't done with car stereo so maybe its time I learn.

constructing the box itself isn't that hard....its the design that takes up so much of the time. At least for me, that is. That's why I usually do sealed boxes. They were the easiest to do correctly, for me.

Custom will fit better, and that one just looks silly.
