So you installed the factory kit yourself?

I'm assuming you followed the instructions, right?

Remember, any sattelite radio system needs to be able to see the sattelite. You will have trouble in cities with large buildings and mountain canyons every time because your view of the sky is quite limited. That's my guess on your problem.

antenna installation location is the right rear corner of the roof, about 6" in from the right and 6" in from the rear.

I don't have information on the sirius, as I use XM, but there are some settings on my SkyFi2 that help "tune in stations" a little better. Might check for that on the sirius.

My Sirius cuts out in very specific locations on the freeway. I think that the
traffic radar installed by the Georgia DOT is the reason. I have a Clarion
head unit and I installed my SAT receiver myself. I am not happy with how
the antenna plugs into the receiver. It doesn't look like the two pieces where
made to go together. The fit is very tight. I located the receiver under the front
passenger seat and mounted the antenna 6 inches forward and 6 inches in
from the right rear corner. I may have nicked the insulation on the antenna
wire during install. They said in the directions that would degrade the signal.

I know Sirius and XM are very different in the way the receive signals from satalites. XM radios use a system that is alot less affected by being near tall objects(buildings and mountains)

I have several Xm radios that are not picky at all with where you have the antenna. I have 2 portable XM radios (roadie XT) that work very good with the atenna layed in the middle of the dash. I also have seen one install of XM that had the antenna under the plastic dash cover in an xb and it worked fine. My OEM XM came installed in the right rear corner of the roof. If I were you I would run it for a few days before I spent the time to do a perm. install. That way if you feel like you need to move it you can.

BTW here is the basic reason why Sirius has more reception issues. But this may change since I read recently that Sirius doesn't own there satalites, they lease them and their lease is due to expire soon.
