Default Factory thinking of offering a Navigation unit....

Hello!

Scion Corp would like to know:
Since many aftermarket navigation systems are being installed by Scion customers,

1) What would you think of the factory offering a navigation unit?

2) What would you pay for it installed?

3) What if it featured the following? What features would you eliminate or add to the list?
- Turn by turn GPS navigation/DVD player with 7-inch display
- CD player, with MP3 and WMA capability
- Scion vehicle specific sound curves, i.e. Scion Sound Processing, featuring Dolby - Digital Surround Sound
- IPod and mini-jack interfaces
- SAT ready capability
- AV outputs available at rear of unit
- Steering wheel controls, where applicable

Thanks for your feedback!

Default Sweet...

That would be really great...

Yes RCA output... 3 or more pairs would be a must.

Low price is a must....

that sounds great if the price is right. I would say around $1750-$2250 would be a good price. I believe you would have many people interested in this after market add on, if it didn't viod the manufacturing warranty.

I would take all of that. ALL OF IT! And I think the $1750-$2200 range would be appropriate given quote I've received on other systems.

Yeah, the Prius unit is nice. Make it retrofitable, please!

I would just make sure that the MP3 player jack is more then just "IPOD" specific.

I have plans to install one once I have the extra money. I have a portable unit now but would love a in dash unit. Hey, I'm willing to offer my car if need be.

Nice, but what about getting rid of the infamous "I Agree" startup screen (or a user disable). I really, really, really hate that and wish they'd stop doing that to factory navi units (eg. on the Lexus, etc.). It's so annoying, even if the rest of the system was awesome, it would kill the deal immediately.

Plug in for TV antenna would be nice, as would be the front side bumper & rear bumper optional cameras (which they've got in some of the Japanese cars as well, eg. Acura Legend). It would be cool to outfit the car with a few cameras....

No SSP! Hows about an EQ instead. I think I know how I like to listen to music better than anyone at Scion. That said, I like.

Agree that the "SSP" is just a stupid one-size-fits-all gimmick, doesn't come close to an adjustable EQ. If the system can't be retrofitted - again, it would be useless (here). Why ask people who ALREADY HAVE the car if they can't plug-n-play it on their car. Also, the retrofit price would have to be the same or less as the price for it already installed in the new cars... it's only fair.

What I would have in it...

the turn-by-turn GPS DVD

a second movie DVD slot - w/ BOTH units capable of running at the SAME TIME... i/e.... while a movie is playing, the navi unit will audible alert you to directions over the movie track.

steering wheel controls

rear RCA jacks - multiples of each - enough to cover most possibilities - maybe even a few USB ports.

input ability for MP3 players, etc.

A/V INPUT, I'd have at least THREE each - while you're at it you could include a port for optic cable and/or color seperation cable (just like on my bigscreen...)

It would add very little price to overkill the back side with jacks - it's all in the engineering, not the manufacture.

Also... make a factory headunit that produces a decent amount of wattage and people might stop tearing them out and throwing them in the garage to slowly rust.
