ground the radio

I'd assume that means to put a ground wire from the body of the head unit to chassis ground?

do you have a wire (pink maybe) that needs to go to the parking brake//to insure that you are parked before the video player will play?

is it an audio or a video problem you are having?

what alpine headunit are you using? what monitors? do you have a wiring harness?

alpine units use a 2 wire system to insure the parking brake is set. a yellow/blue and a yellow/black, one goes to the foot brake and the other to the parking brake.

throw up some model numbers and be a bit more specifiic on what you're trying to do and what problems you're having and i'll gladly help ya out ;)

Default RE: Factory upgrade ALPINE DVD w/ DUAL 7" MONITORS

Thanks for the quick replies guys, its actually the alpine dvd upgrade for the Release Series 3.0. I know how to ground it to the car but where do I connect the ground to the radio? Thats where i am confused. Since it is a factory upgrade it plugs in directly to the factory harness, so i dont think it needs to be connected to the parking brake???????. I believe the model number is HBTY501A. PLEASE help i want everything working in order for my kids to enjoy the ride!!! THANKS

as far as I know all indash video players..need to be hooked up somehow to the emergency brake light..

not hooked up to the light wire...no play

is it just the video your having troubles with? or are you getting nothing?

you wont hurt anything by running a chassis ground wire to the body of the dvd player
if thats what you think the problem is...

test it out

When you purchased it did they give you the audio/video control modules?

I am getting nothing right now. I am going to try just connecting the ground to any part of the chasis of the raio to see if that works. Also, yes they did give me the audio/video control modules. I keep you guys posted as to any progress. As soon as I get of work ill try. thanks!

This model doesn't have a Parking Brake setup, because the indash has no screen, it should be completely plug-n-play and a ground is a ground.

I can hear the DVD through the speakers but the monitors are not powering on. I noticed there are 2 plugs in the back of the radio which i have no idea what they are for. What do I do? Any help. I dont have the two wires that plug into the area.

Does it have a harness that goes from the HeadUnit (indash unit) to each of the monitors? if not, that's the issue, if so, check the connectors and check them for opens or shorts.

I just think that it is funny that they felt the need to make a post that only quoted themselves earlier and added nothing to, but never took the time to actually read that the OP had answered the question. It's the whole "open mouth, insert foot" thing.

Anyways..... Malditoxb, if you don't have the wires that go from the HU to the Monitors or don't have those "2 plugs", you might have to head down to the dealership and ask the parts folks for some prices. Also, you might want to post some pics to see if someone can identify those plugs.

Thanks DJ Sparky, I think that's what i'm going to have to do. Also, I was told that the factory upgrade shoud be a direct plug in, does anyone know if there are plugs in the dash that I should be aware of. I was told on other cars when you upgrade to navigation or dvd, there are some plugs that have to be used behind the dash board that weren't originally attached to the factory radio. ????? I am trying to find my digital camera to take pics. I'll post them as soon as I can.

04-05 don't have the AUX plugs or iPod connectors like the 06-06.5 does, which might be those connectors. Is one long and thin? like this:
