Default a few q's (factory xover, large gauge wire, CDTs up front)?

Hey everybody,
I'm finally starting to get serious about getting better sound in my xB and wanted to know some specifics about the factory system before I go in and do surgery on my car. My main question is: does the factory system have crossovers between the 4" and the 6.5"? I remember seeing a factory h/u wiring code chart that said it only had 4 output channels so I'm assuming the answer is yes but I wanted to be sure. I was also wondering if the crossovers are active or passive and where they are located. My plan is to splice into the existing speaker wiring so I don't have to run any through the door jamb. I did it in my last car and it was a pain in the ___.

Next question: Has anybody run 1/0 gauge power wire in their xB? I really don't need it for my system but I already have it left over from my last one and I'd hate for it to go to waste...just wondering if there's enough room to run the big wire.

last question (for now): I've seen all the threads about how the front speaker replacement requires a mounting bracket. If I were to buy the scosche or whatever brand mounting bracket, does that give enough mounting depth for the mid of a CDT HD-62 set (looks like a little over 3" with room for the pole vent)?

Finally, if that's not the case, can somebody who has built custom brackets that will fit the CDTs build a pair for me? I'd obviously pay you, it's just that I'm a student now living in a small house and don't have any of the necessary tools to do that sort of thing right now.

Thanks in advance for any info!

I'm running 0 gauge back to my capacitor. Here's a pic:(its the blue wire on the left side)

It fits, but if you're running TONS of stuff under the panels they do bulge a tiny bit. It took a bit of creative arranging to keep panel bulge out of the equation. Now, my Phoenix Gold Ti Elites are a 6" mid, and they did need an adaptor plate, but it was custom made to ensure that it wouldn't ratte at all:

Hope that can give you a little help with your project!!!!!!!!

Nope, Phoenix Gold Titanium Elites, their high end component set, and yes, they are amazing!

Yep, my audio guys made it for me. No rattles at all, especially with the sound deadening. All the sound deadening is added. The factory stuff just can't handle massive bass. Plus it really cuts down on road noise and improves your music. I loved the quiet trip up to Reno last weekend!

Another Q: Do wires run straight throught the door jamb or do they have a "harness" that attaches to both ends?!

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not an installer  , but I'm sure I have an answer if you "bring it down" to my terms. Are you meaning the blue wires in the first picture going to the back or the wire going to the speakers in the front doors?

What i mean, is that for the speakers in the doors, do the wires go straight through the door and into the cabin... Or do they end at the door and are connected to the cabin via a harness?
