Default First post/First question

I just recently sold my 03 350Z and have been looking at getting an Xb. I'd like someone to help me with my A/V set-up. Here is what I'd like:

2 monitors-One in the front and one in the rear so when I open the back you can see it. The one in the back needs to be around 15 inches.

New DVD/CD head unit

Whatever it takes to get standard TV-I'm assuming soem kind of tuner

4 good speakers and maybe a small amp. I don't need a sub.

Do you think this could be done for $2,500? Does anyone have anything similar?

BTW-I have used the search feature.

OK what if I skipped the Amp and 4 speakers for the time being? Is there a head unit that plays both DVD's, CD's, and has a built in TV tuner?

the amp and the speakers are the least expensive out of the whole project ... as for the head unit ... can get a pioneer p5000mp for around 600 even theough the retail is around 800 ... very few head units come with a tv tuner built in, but you could add one. msrp on the tv tuner is 250

the 15" monitor is going to be anywhere from 700-1500 depending on brand and the dash monitor is going to be about another 1000 ...

I've had this problem my whole life with getting bored with cars and trading them off. I'm 32 and I've had the following:

77 Monte Carlo
74 Z-28 (427-fast)
83 Firebird
89 Firebird Formula
Pontiac Fiero (owned it for 4 days)
Honda Accord
96 Acura Integra GS-R
00 Honda Civic Si-Bought new, sold a year later for $1k profit.
97 Honda CRV
99 Lexus ES300
03 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast
I didn't own any of these cars at the same time.

Non cars
CBR600
Suzuki Volusha
Bombadier DS650 quad
Polaris SL750 PWC
About 3 different 3 and 4 wheelers (Kid)

I usually buy used and don't lose that much money (not the Z)I'm currently driving my wifes old 99 Camry until I find something different. I liked the Z but living in Iowa and having that as my only car didn't make much sense. The Z would make a nice third car. I'm actually thinking that I'm growing out of it because very few cars get me going that are in my price range. I thought the Xb would be a nice cheap vehicle. I may just keep driving the Camry since it's rock solid and paid off. There has to be other people that also have this problem...

I good sign that I don't need anything besides the Camry is the vehicles that I've been looking at. They are all over the map.

Honda Pilot
Acura TSX
Scion Xb
Mini Cooper S

For 2500 dollars you are going to be hardpressed to find good quality stuff for that cheap. You could maybe pull out with a 15", an in-dash monitor and a dvd/cd player for that much, probably not even installed. 15: monitors are the biggest monitors that a lot of companies make, and you want it, which will cost you a pretty penny alone.

-sidenote - I am not saying 15" monitors are the biggest made. So don't all you audio-peeps rush the forum and tell me they make bigger monitor because I am very aware of that. Most companies only make up to a 15".

You are wanting some expenive toys, not too mention the speakers and amp you still possibly want to try and get; try the 3500 - 4000 range.

your best and most cost effective way might be to add a dvd player (w/out monitor) $150-$200 and leave your stock headunit to play the cds. you then could find some nice separates for about $200-$300 (high price) that will just sound great over stock. after that get 3 small 7" monitors and mount one in the front and then one in each headrest. (about $200 for each montitor. I don't know much about amps, but and what the install will cost. Yes, it could be done. you just need to see where you can play with pricing.

i think i will be having the same problems as you are with being tired of cars really fast. anyway back on subject this is the setup i am getting done. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9530

i think it is a really clean look and for the money this guy rocks. i found a dif. dvd player on ebay that doesn't play mp3's for like 319.00. with the price of this install you could still have more $$$ to work with. i think the entire setup will cost about 725 which is not bad. check him out, he's on scionlife (mattjk). tell him bryan sent you
