Here's a photo I took of the two plastic fasteners that hold them in:

I'm guessing you'll have to reach around behind the bumper to provide a little bit of motivation.

Yeah, I've taken mine out to put the billet grills in.
You have to take the grill out, then take the lower bumper cover off. Not hard, but time consuming.
EDIT:
I posted the same time the one above me did. If these come out by popping them out, then that would be MUCH easier and also alow me to AIM mine correctly

Evidently there are two options as far as dealing with the CAI intake "rubbing" issue.
Move the filter element down by undoing the braket on the filter element of the CAI or take the foglight out and change how the bulb is instered so that the harness faces up in stead of down.
Presently my Air intake filter element is getting craped away from rubbing against the foglight. This was major disaster in thinking from TOYOTA. I love this car, but how they missed this one is anyone's guess.

Hmm... TOYOTA installed the INTAKE and they cover it under warranty. Hmmmm....it's actually offered as a factory installed upgrade. It is listed as a SCION accessory at SCION.com and at the dealer.
Clearly AEM f''ed up and probably didn't test their AEM on an xB model with fog lights installed but, come on. This is just a real bad error. To have the INTAKE sit right up against the Fog Light?
Anyway, I fixed it by loosening the clamp that holds the filter element and moving it down the pipe an inch or so, that seems to have fixed the problem.
