Default FREE template for DIY custom Speedometer

I got bored Monday night and had a idea for a new speedometer face. If you remove your dash cover over the speedometer. Remove all the covers and trim rings and needles from the speedometer. The face just slides off. This can all be done in the car with out removing the guages. You can then scan it at 200dpi , make sure you scale it to the correct size as the size on the screen is not what will print out of Photshop 7. You can the play aound with the fonts or remove the kilometers as I'm not shipping my xB over to Europe. Once you hace a good enough image, I used a picture of my 19" rim scaled so the size of the wheel was about the same as the circle on the speedo. I rotated the rim a little to put a spoke at 70mph. You can the print it on transparencies(Kinkos what can't they do). Plus the color laser image looks much better than the regular printers. Remeber anything white in your pic will now be clear on the printout. The backing for our guage is white with three edge lighting LEDs. . Make two images use rubber cement to glue the two together where it is black at the bottom. I used a little around the perimeter as this will be covered with the trim ring.

Default Speedos

I got rid of the fuel door arrow and the x1000 for the RPMS. It cleans up the bottom. I am working on an RMP with Japanese numbers for the 0 through 7.

I have an extra one I might sell for a few bucks if you like my rim.

This is the right scale to be able to print cut and place it back in the xB. Anything white will be transparent on a transparency.

If anybody is interested in this kind of thing I am planning on doing a bunch of custom guages. I can get prices as soon as i get a list of people that are interested...they wont be that much...probably around $8-$15 shipped to you...(i will have a more solid number in a couple days)...all you would have to do is stick it over your existing speedo
here is the link to the other thread that this is being worked out in...there is a site with guage ideas on it

Let us see a pic of this installed with the lights on and off. Then I'll tell you if I'm interrested.
