Finally got my gauges installed. Many thanks to Bob (fixerofallthings) for all the help.

Cadaver, the gauges were ordered from JC Whitney and are the Equus brand. They are electric. I noticed that the items on their webpage do not match the stuff in the catalog. I ordered on the web.

Newtmaker,
Looks very nice!
I also would like to do electric, could you please tell me at what points on the car you hooked these up and did you use adapters for this project.
Thanks

The 12vdc , ground, and illumination were connected to the radio harness using those little quick splicers. The two sender unit wires were run through the firewall to the appropriate sender.
One note. The illumination on these gauges cannot be dimmed by the dash illumination pot on the Scions because the dash lights are leds, not incandescant bulbs. The gauge lights are fairly bright but I will just leave them at full intensity for the time being. I may try to change them to leds sometime later.

The pod is supposedly paintable but after I got it installed I really prefer the black. It really doesn't look that out of place with the other side being white. It just seems like an extension of the dash to me.

Newtmaker,
Can you tell me where the oil and water sender wires go on the XB? Also can you still use the idiot lights? where did you get the gauge cluster.
Thanks again

I ordered the adapters from http://www.scionsport.com/store/
Look under the gauge/adapter category. The one for the oil filter fits between the filter and the block and has 4 holes for mounting sending units. They are all 1/8 x 27 pipe thread fittings which are pretty much standard for a lot of various senders. I found the adapter very high quality material but the plugs provided really had to be tightened pretty good so as not to leak. I would estimate I was tightening them to about 50 ft lbs with an allen head socket.
The water temp sender fits in the upper radiator hose. You have to cut out a piece in the hose about 1" long to make room for the adapter. Naturally, drain the water a little first. If you put the car up on short ramps and take the splash shield off from the bottom, you will see one radiator drain that has a short tube pointing straight down. A bucket will easily catch the fluid so you can reuse it afterwards. It took mw about an hour to do both adapters just taking it easy and making sure all was right. The gauge cluster is available from the same guys at scionsport.com. It fits right on top of the stock A pillar cover, but you do have to first remove the stock cover, mate the two and then replace as a unit. It is also easier to pull away the door moulding where it covers the a pillar first and then replace it last.
Hope all this helps.
