Default Get a valet (not spare!) key made...?

Well... Last night, I was talking to my friends about how my "valet" spare key is the same size as my regular key and that my mom wanted me to keep it in my wallet. After a week of it hurting my right ___ cheek, I took it out of my wallet and left it on my desk. Tonight, I locked myself out of my car with my keys still in the ignition. I was about 20 miles away from my apartment. I had to get one of my roommates to bring my "valet" spare key to me.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is...can I make a valet key? You know, the flat type that can fit in my wallet and not bruise my ___ cheek. I heard all of our keys are the same, but there is a chip in the black plastic part that has to be programmed. _That_ would be a problem... Can someone shine some light on this?

Thanks

Michael,

As far as I know there are no chips in our keys(there were no bypass used when I added a remote start on my xB) and they are not created the same. For the valet key, my bro-in-law has this plastic key thats looks like a credit card(you bend it when needed) The good thing about it is that when he locks his keys in, that plastic key unlocks the door but can't start the engine(good when you lose your walet) He got it from AAA. This type will not bruise your ___ cheek

I tried searching for them and this is all I found

http://www.creditcardkeys.nl/noodslEN.html

http://www.cckeys.com/index2.htm

http://www.quicktag.com/hillmangroup/ekey.htm

http://www.csaa.com/yourcar/ersguide...0200%2C00.html look under lock out

if anyone knows where I can get this without using AAA service please let me know too.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

I'd say 90% of all toyota dealerships have the plastic "credit card" keys. Just go to your parts department, they should have them, and can cut it on the spot.

as for not being able to start your car, the plastic key CAN start your car. there is noting different between the door lock and the ign. switch. Sure, it's not a good idea to use it to start your car, i.e. if the plastic breaks, time for a new ign. switch. The only case where that is true is when the regular key does have a transponder chip in them.

hope this helps

All you have to do it melt the plastic off of the key - BAM! - you'll have a plain old flat key that will not imprint the Scion logo in your ___
