so you are saying its worth it or the cheap ones arent as good???

the newer maximas change colors because of the projector, i think its called flickering but you get that effect from oem projectors.

and i think ebay kits are cheap and are a waste of money, you are much better finding oem ballasts from cars like acuras, nissan, audi, bmws and such, and do some research and you will find out that it is not to difficult to get it the oem setup up and running. i just got the tl hid's in and they look identical to the tl's and cl's with hids. the older tl's that is, the newer ones have projectors, but i got the ones for the reflector style headlight. pm me for more info if you like i'll see if i can refer you to someone that sells a setup that uses oem components.

The oem hid's are only 4100k most of the time. It is the projector like Anthonie said that gives off the different colors. The higher k you go the light output you get.

Like you said, I am leary about getting one off ebay but people that have are happy with the bulbs. They arent the same as your expensive imports but people seem to be happy enough for them (taking in mind the ease/expense also).

I dont know what to do.

If you buy a colored bulb, you're tinting the light that comes out of your headlight... if you go 8000K-10,000K, that makes everything on the road look purple.

The thing about the Maximas, S2000s, Audis, BMWs, Mercedes, Lexuses... is that you only see the purple because of the projector, the actual light that comes out is white. But when your car goes over bumps in the road, it will change the angle of the projector, and that's why you see it flicker from white to blue or purple and so forth.

If you put in an 8000K conversion kit to get that "HID look", that's all you're doing, you'll have the look without the performance. I know people who have gotten HID conversion kits and while they're happy with the looks, their performance doesn't come close to an OEM setup.
