Default hardest hitting subs???

I change my mind just about everyday on what I want to do for my sub set up... ive decided I want to have it hit hard enough to make your heart skip a beat lol. My friend used to have a 4runner with 2 15" kicker subs and it once made him throw up from being so loud haha. I dont think I will go that all out. But I want something that just pounds. Cause if im gonna dynamat my car and trunk, I might as well put it to the test. I also dont want to spend thousands of dollars, which I know always limits things. So the Cheapest Hardest Hitting set up possible is ideal I wish i knew more and more about subs and audio things to figure it out myself. But this is why we have forums, so people can help others out lol. thanksss

i was in the same posesion you are in a cupple months ago.. i went alpine... 3 12"s (= it hits so hard it hurts!!! heres my sub setup..
3 12" alpine type e subs kenwood 850 watt@2 ohm. and a bazooka el1500 400 watt at 4 ohm and i built a box that has seprate chambers for each sub. so the middle one is powered by the bazooka and the outer ones are powered by the kinwoods
and i only spent about $700 on it!! from crutchfield!!! I never regret it or wish i got something else there just awsome!!

heres some pics.

what does SPL mean? sorry im a n00b with some of the terms sometimes.. yeah right now i have a JL W3 12" in the back i was thinking of just getting another one? cause right now the 1 alone bumps pretty damn hard, and its running off a 5 channel amp thats powering my speakers.. so I figure either get a mono amp for the sub.. or get another one, and get a crazy amp, i want it to hurt! haha

SPL and SQL are Sound Producing Levels and Sound Quality Level.

There is a difference between being obnuxously loud and having a nice clean hit.

A lot of rap/r&b just have a low note. where as techno or rock would be a quick bass hit.

So depending on the music you listen to can determine the sound you want.

Buddy had 2 kicker 10" l7 and a 1200w kicker amp hooked up. I could hear him accross an intersection with my music turned up.

SPL = Sound Pressure Level

SQ = Sound Quality

SQL = Sound Quality + Loud

That's always the way I've referred to it as... when talking about box design, an SPL box is generally tuned to 40Hz+ and is basically good for playing one note VERY loudly!!! When you refer to a SQ box, it's usually a sealed box with the flattest response curve. And with an SQL box, it's a mixture of both Sound Quality and Loudness - mostly a ported box tuned to 30-35Hz....

VERY loud, inexpensive, HARD hitting subs would be the Elemental Designs 19Ov.2.... an 18" sub that can handle whatever you want to throw at it, but I'd personally keep it under 1500 watts... and only $185 + shipping

Indeed the w7's are insane, but too pricey for what you get IMO...
