Default Has anyone Installed their HU in a Non-Toyota car?

Hey guys,

Just took out my HU and changed it for somenthing better. My brother has a Kia with a Double Din and I want to put my HU in his car. My question is...has anyone done this?? I know people have installed their HU in other Toyota cars which have the same wiring harness therefore plug right into the back of the HU...which plug did you use? Did you get it from your scion dealer?? Part #???

Thank you for your help....and just in case anyone asks I did "search" but maybe im 2 lazy and that is why I coul not find the answer to my question above!!

Thank you!

You'll need to get both harnesses, and then wire them together, it should work fine.

I put mine in my Tacoma, but it was a straight wiring job...the one thing I notice with Toyota radios is that the antena is the ground for the radio ...so make sure the antenna is grounded...

the pioneer radios that come stock are slightly bigger then normal double din's, meaning you might have to trim the plastic around the radio to get it to fit.

They won't fit in a tundra without modifications.

I hate to rain on a Parade, but that WILL NOT WORK, you need find an xB in a Salavge yard cut the radio harness, because you need the Male portion of the scion harness, the link that was posted is a FEMALE,

I hope this helps ya.

I think you are wrong....are we talking about the same link???

http://www.scosche.com/scosche/connectors/TA02R.asp

This is a "Male" connector that goes right into the back of the Scion HU.

http://www.scosche.com/scosche/connectors/KA01.asp

This link is the "female" wiring harness that goes into the Kias stock wiring harness....

I will let you know if it works.... :D

Omar, you need Metra harness # 71-1761, that allows you to hook up Toyota original equipment stereos into other vehicles. I just ordered the part myself from audiooutfitter.com.

you can get a "toyota" radio harness for $10 at pepboys...it is the male end that goes into the back of the radio...

To be honest though, you need two parts though...one for the front speakers and one for the rears...thats why you have to hook up two harness to your factory head unit....one is the fronts with all the power, acc, and switched wires in it. The second one is the rears....

later

Yes I knew that. If you take a look at the links that were posted above you will see "2" harness in the picture.

Thank you!
