Default Head Unit

I know there have been a lot of posts about this. But I was wondering:

I'm probably going to pick up a Kenwood DNX5120 soon for the xA. It's got nav/DVD/CD/iPod/bluetooth functions. I can get it on crutchfield for $600 new, with install kit and harnesses and install guide, or amazon for about $440 refurbished, without that stuff.

Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DNX5...20.html?tp=144

Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...5248805&sr=8-1

I checked the post about kits and harnesses, but it seemed like those were all single DIN, so I'm unsure what to do if I go the refurb route. Also, does that sound risky? It's a factory refurb. I mean even crutchfield sells those...

Suggestions?

To ease installation you will likely need an install kit. If it is similar to the xB's set up the install kit is very simple (a couple simple brackets)\ and therefore cheap. The wiring harness adapters in my opinion are a must. I see no reason to cut into the factory harness to wire in a radio when adapter plugs are very reasonably priced. Crutchfields will sell you just the wiring plugs and mounting kit. Check the prices they will not be too bad. Certainly not anywhere near the $200 difference between Crutchfields and the amazon.com price.

Crutchfields price appears to be very competitive I checked http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...d+DNX5120.html
whom I have used before because their prices were better than Crutchfields , and the pricing is the same on that unit. The real question now is buy new or refurb. how does the warrantee compare. I would likely bite the bullet and but new.

Personally speaking, a wire harness is a must. Don't clip those wires... use the speed harness.

Factory refurbs work great... you still have a decent warranty with them to find any initial issues.

I was planning on getting the harness. Crutchfield sells the harness for about $10, and the brackets for $15 i think. I may just pick up the refurb. Heck, I'm sporting a refurbished phone and haven't had a minute's trouble with it.

Picked one up for $399. Can't beat that. It's waiting for me to come home and install it next weekend.
