Default Headrest Monitor Instal Prob

I have a small issue. Im sure it is easily fixable. I have 2 headrest monitors I want to install. I want to run the wires down through the steel rods in teh headrest so it has a clean professional look. The problem I run into is that the wires/plugs don't fit in the rods. Any suggestions. I though it might be possible to cut the wire and lengthen it so that then solder the video plug back on the end of it but I have never cut a video wire and can honestly say I have no idea what one looks like on the inside or if you can/should even do this.

Any suggestions?

im not sure how well that will work for you to be honest, you may want to look into modding the tubing.

Audiovox makes headrests for the Scion that have 7"onitors, DVD player and wiring through the post all built in!

I did that same mod on my accord back in the day and all i did was drill a small hole at the top of the post then cut the rca connectors off and fed the wire through the post. I put new ends on and ran the wires inside the seat. clean install and you can adjust your headrest up and down with no wire showing. My picture quality was the same after as it was before I extended the wire. I was going to do the same thing in my xB but the wife doesn't think i should be cutting up my headrest. I regretted doing it to my accord since I took the monitors out a few months later and had to buy headrest from the auto recycler to replace them. Good luck

How do you get the wires through the seat?

I haven't really look at my xB seats but on my accord I was able to take the back panel off and run them. The xB should have some way to open the back or if you extend the wires long enough you could probably be able to reach them at the bottom. I'll look at it later and let you know.

you can just cut the rca, and add a new end... it's a coaxial type cable so make sure you seperate the wires correctly when adding the new end...

with the head off you can easily fit them through the tubing...
