Default help [determining speaker wire polarity]

i am installing a rca converter and i figured out which wires go to the rear speakers but i cant tell which is positive and negative or left and right so can someone tell me real quick which wires go to what.. the ones im looking at are a red, yellow, skinny white and a thick white....also, which wire is the control wire...thx

Take a 9v battery and touch it to the pairs. If it moves out, then the polarity is correct. If it moves in, then you have the polarity reveresed.

it doesnt matter with small speakers. so i've been told. i'm probably wrong tho. please tell me.

thx for the help, i wish i saw the converter on ebay first but i just got a male and female stereo wiring harness, connected them with the converter and plugged it all back up..works great, and did not have to worry about cutting the stock wires. Plus only costed me $19 total, so if anyone does not want to spend $50+ for the one on ebay, this works just as good.

if you have two speakers with differint polarity they 'in theory' cancle each other out, you will be able to hear a big differince.

correct ^^^^^^
but in the real world, they do not cancel out but they will sound flat.
like ^^^^ states, you will hear a diff.
