help with getting a new sub
ok-i'm looking to get a 10" subwoofer. i've narrowed it down to 3 different subs right now. the Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 1, the Diamond Audio d610d4, and the elemental designs 110.v2. i've never heard any of the three subs, so if anyone has one of these, what do u think of it? would u have gone a different route if u could do it over again? i'm gonna be powering the sub off of a kenwood 2channel amp, which bridged can put out 460w rms @ 4ohms. do i have to get the rms power of the sub to almost match the amp, or does that not really matter? i believe the diamond audio is 500w rms, the ed is 450w rms, and the RF is 600w rms. also, is there a discount on the ED sub? i know they have them for the edead, and other stuff. was there one for the subwoofers?

If you are going to go with diamond, get the D610d2. will enable you to get the correct power from your amp. The RMS rating for it is closer to 800 rms, so you would need to make the box a bit bigger, somewhere around .75 cubic feet.
Hopefully by the end of the month I will have 2 of these subs in my car, to go with the rest of my diamond system.

the kenwood amp i'm gonna use to power it is the kac7202. it's power ratings are:
150 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms, 230 watts x 2 at 2 ohms, and 460 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms. it doesn't give me the bridged watts in 2 ohms. at 2 ohms, would it be over 600watts? does it matter if all the other stuff in the car is running at 4 ohms?

yello: your amp isn't 2 ohm bridged stable....if you try to run it like that, it will probably overheat or blow the amp....
I'd say go with the eD sub if you're changing out the kicker you have in there now... eD's can use small enclosures.... PM mandos on here for more q's on eD as he works for them

yeah-i'm def not trying to blow out my amp. the diamond audio one is gonna cost me about the same price as the ed amp. i've heard that diamond audio makes awesome stuff, i just haven't heard any of it. i actually just bought edi6000s components for the rear of my tc. waiting for those to come in tomorrow. i've seen the diamond sub go for over $250, i believe retail is over $300. that's why i figured since i could get it for about $175 maybe i should go that way. i wish i could hear either one of them before i bought it though. that'd really help. the rms of the ed is almost exact with the kenwood amp, while the diamond's rms is about 50 watts higher. is that gonna make a difference? it's not gonna be underpowered i assume? decisions decisions.
