Default Help me install XM Radio...

I just bought XM Radio for my box and I don't really know how to go ahead with it and get it installed. I don't want any bestbuy or any other audio guys installin it for me because I'm picky and want to do it myself properly. The other factor is I'm from Canada and there's no Scion's here so my car would b a tester for them to learn on. I opened the content of the package and all I see is some FM Modulator (no clue what taht is) but I don't see no jacks to hook it up to Scion factory radio.
Anyway can anyone point me in the right direction ?

this is the model I got....

Its really easy to install. You need to find a power(accessory) wire, find a ground(somewhere on the chassis) This will provide your unit the power. The FM modulator should be a box with two antennae wires (one male, one female). You need to disconnect the antennae from your car radio and plug that wire into the female adapter of the fm modulator. Next plug the male antenna wire to your radio. turn on, tune radio, and test!

except that that model of xm radio doesn't have a modulator built in anymore. if you have the aux in then a 1/8" mini patch cable from the audio out on the xm and the aux in in the center console. otherwise you'll need the sure connect thing which really isn't all that great but does work sorta

Ok, now how do I go about powering up the unit ? I don't want it connected to cig lighter output all the time and just hotwire it somewhere. All I have is the cig lighter power cable that's it, and I do not know which cable connect to what.

cut the cigarette adapter portion, this should leave you with just the wire. Strip the wire exposing about 1/2 inch, find a ground and an accessory and tadaa. you might wanna find your accessory in the fuse box.

whoa, make sure that the cigarette adapter does not convert the 12 volts to a different voltage before you cut it off. If it does, open it up and connect a wire to the 2 inside. the middle of the adapter is hot, the sides are ground.

yeah don't cut off the adapter it take 12v done to 5v @2A xm makes a stand alone hardwire unit for a bout $30ish but you could wire in a cig adapter under the dashwith a fused harness for about $10 and 30ish minutes of your time
