Default Help: need wire color code for clock harness

im looking to hard wire in my radar dector and i need to know what would be the best color wire to tap into? If anybody knows the gound wire too that would be awesome.

I know some of you have done this before so it would save me a lot of time if you could just tell me the wire you used. Thanks!!!

I assume you want it powered whenever the key is turned to "ON"? And you want to make the connection under the dash? I have the wiring schematics, but need more information on what you are looking for. I have not done this, but I did connect cruise control to the cigarette lighter power as the directions suggested, and all is well. Would that wire be OK. It is powered when in the "ON" position.

theres a cluster of wires running from under the dash to the main spedo/clock cluster. Theres like 11dy billion wires bundled together. I just need to know what color would be the right one to tap into so the radar powers on when the key is on. So im thinking i should tap into the clock power wire. Some sort of wire that is always powered when the key is on

thanks man

kustom, I suggest you mount the radar unit up high around the rearview mirror(this also conseals your unit better becuase its up high with no chord plus it gets the best performance mounted high) and run the wire through the headliner and down the side pillar and then tap into the cig lighter under the dash, it should be quick and real easy.

I hard wired mine, but I did it when I was installing my radio, I just went off the switched power and ground, then routed the wore right into the ferring for the cluster (where the blinkers/warning lights/clock are). I have it pretty much sitting on that peice so it doesn't bounce. Works good for me. Good luck!
