where to connect the starter wire from the remote start to? is it just directly hook up to the starter kill wire in the car(black) or is it by using a relay and a switch like this picture here

are you trying to just hook up the starter wire or the starter kill? If you are hooking up the kill then you need to use that relay set up. If it is just the starter wire for the remote start to start the car then you need to hook it up to the starter side of the starter wire AFTER the kill relay.
