Default Help with speakers

Who her has changed their speakers in the dash and in the door? I need some help please.
1) what size can fit in the doors and dash?
2) how are they wired? In series or parallel?
3) what is the speaker's resistance? 2/4/8 ohms?
3. how do you get the dash speaker out?
thanks in advance.

1) In the doors you can fit up to 6.5". I personally cut out the old speakers out of Scion's stupid ___ rivited speaker enclosures in the front doors and replaced them with my own 6.5"sin their enclosure and screwed them back to the door panels. In the dash you can fit any normal size tweeter 1" - 2" (probably) I made new plates to hold my new tweeters in the dash.

3) To take out the dash speakers, stick a small screwdriver under the mesh panel and pry it up. It comes off very easily. Then use a wrench and undo the small bolts.

As for the wiring and resistance, I do not know. They were irrelevant to me. I replaced all audio parts in the car so I am unsure.

Good luck.

Well for starters i forgot ohm load but anything from a 6.5 to a shallow 8 will fit in door
(kicker makes an 8" that is 2" thick) indash any tweeter or a 4" speaker will fit
dont tell me im wrong i have 4" speakers in my dash center , left and right
so have fun and enjoy rear is a 6.5 as well

Normally in car audio, speakers are 4 ohms.
In our case there are 4 channels 2front/2rear.

Most radios have 4 ohm impedance allowance rating per channel.
To make the front 4 speakers have a 4 ohm load to each channel. they would have to be 8ohms each speaker. The rears should be 4 ohms each speaker since each channel has 1 speaker.

Here is the resistance adding formula: (r=resisitance)

r1 x r2
r1 + r2 = r total

Example: (speaker resisitance 1 and 2 are 8 ohms)

8ohms x 8ohms = 64ohms
8ohms + 8ohms = 16ohms = 4 ohms

You can also remove the speakers and get yourself a ohmmeter or multimeter set it to resistance. measure the + and - sides to get a reading.

If anyone took their speakers out, please post here so we all know the xB speakers resistance as common knowledge.

Note: i am just assuming the front speakers are 8ohms. We all need to find out for sure. I just wanted to teach people how to calculate and figure it out.

I just took out my front dash speakers and they are marked 13 ohms (!)...

I replaced them with some 4" Eclipse coaxials that are 4 ohms . . . hope I don't overload the factory amps.

How does it sound? Much brighter frontal stage and more detailed vocals from the larger and beefier 4" size. So much more that I have to to turn down the treble...

I am an installer and havent got a chance to get into a scion but any factory radio will hold an impedence of as low as 4 ohm and still be stable. Its not going to hurt it you will just get a little more power out of the radio that is probaly why you highs are so much brighter, or at least one of the reasons.
