HELP speedo & tach needles!
So I changed the gauge color w/ a friend yesterday and I am having trouble resetting the speedo and tach..
the speedo needle falls if the car is left to side for 10 mins or so... the car is an 04 xA which has no needle stops..
any idea how to reset the speedo & tach? the tach seems inacurate as well... what is the correct idle RPM??
thanks!

The needles need to be set at the original points with the car turned off. All needles should originally point to the lowest setting when the car is off.I changed the speedo color on my xB and had a similar problem with the speed needle. It would get stuck at about 35mph. The needle was just pushed on too hard. A little tug and everthing was fine. I have taken other speedo clusters apart b4 and you really have to be careful about remembering where the needles rest with the car off and how the needle goes back on.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Seems like they are ok now..
The first problem was the speedo needle was pushed on too hard - not allowing it to move.
The next problem was calibrating it, it would hang where it was supposed to be.. but if the car was left off for a few minutes, the needle would fall when the key made contact.
This was corrected (thanks to the forum!) by turning the dial (without the needle on) counter-clockwise until I found where it stopped. I then continued to push the stop until it rested at 0, and popped the needle back on.
Problem solved! Same for the tach.
