Default How do I remove Dome Light Covers to replace them?

Trying to install some Blue LED's, but can't figure out how to remove dome light covers.
Don't want to snap them off or anything... HELP!!

Anyone got a clue how to get these off without breaking them for good?

Thanks!

The lamp cover??? Just pull it off... To access the light just pull the cover off... Not that difficult...

I think someone needs to post a tech article for this feat.

LOL^^^ I might make one for kicks. It'd be the shortest tech write up.

just pry it with your finger on the driver's side where the switch is. Comes right off.

Boy, you xB drivers are funny. Maybe someone will find it in their heart to "think outside the box" and answer a xA driver's question? We already get no love from Scion aftermarket wise, at least our xB and tC brothers should show some comraderie... maybe? Good one though, krusty.....

I'm just messing with you buddy. It MAY work, I've never replaced the domelight bulb in my xB. You will really just have to try it out.

We all are messing with you, you know like bro's do. We gotta give you a hard time!
It sounds like either bulb will work, if those are the bulb sizes you were talking about. I changed mine out by taking it out and looking at the size and just eyball matching it to another bulb.

There is a number for the bulb in the dome light though. I just cant remeber it now. I'll try to find it.

For the front one, look at the front of the panel, to find the lil slot. Find the biggest thing you can fit in there, and just wedge it off. I say thi biggest because I saw a guy use something really small, and it ATE the housing, and the bigger will distrubute the force more evenly. For the back one...the blockheads got it right, just move the lever all the way to one side, and pry it off with your fingers.

You the man, STANDxSTRONG... that's what I was looking for. Gonna order some blue LEDs tomorrow to celebrate the new found knowledge... because knowing IS half the battle. (G.I. Joe!)

HA! good one!

Glad I could help, I've had to swap and replace and check a few times, so I pretty much have it down....The front one might be a bit tough to get out, just keep trying, it's strong enough to take the abuse...

I would suggest www.LEDDOMELIGHTS.com for the lights, but I don't really care as long as you don't use superbrightleds.com, their LED's burn out QUICK! I had taillights that burned out in like 3 months.

I went with lightlens.com andI hope they are not bunk. $18.70 shipped for two "japenese no-fade blue leds". We'll see. Mod crazy this week / spring has sprung! New 17" inch rims (Kobe viz-5 black w/ double chrome lip), set of smoked overlays from bluebatmobile.net, and my domes. Total cost... $950. "Blacking out" the '06 Black Sand Pearl xA? PRICELESS. Now, any hints on how to remove silver plastic interior pieces for painting? Yank on them again? Wanna do all 11. Pics to come when I'm completed!!

The ones around the stereo are the same piece as the stereo face, so there's a lil problem there, but the sides of the dash, open the oven (Lighted cubby) and work your fingers under the plastic, then pull, it's a lil rough, just stick with it, and USE COMMON SENSE. I dunno about the doors, I think they just come off the same way.....GOod luck on the steering wheel, I'm not even gonna say anything about those, I haven't touched them.

oh yea, those dome lights get pretty darn HOT I discovered one day :D so be careful there. Use like a piece of cloth or something when removing.

All great info... thanks guys. First task is bluebatmobile's smoked overlays which arrived today. If I don't royally mess those up, I think I'll build the confidence to do up the rest no problem. Any other fun/cool/cheap-ish mods you wanna share? I'm all ears.....
