Default how much does it cost?

What a broad question!

how much have you spent upgrading your stereo? an itemized list woud be much appreciaed.

i'm toying with the idea of putting a new sytem in. where do i start? what do i need to look out for? about how much should things(i know that depends on what) cost so i know i'm not getting ripped off?

what have you gained personally from upgrading your scions system?

also, replying to my other thread would be awesome too.

Have I gained personally?
I like my stereo loud but it does get old.

If I could take it all back I would just put a JL 10" sub in the back to have it a little louder.

It was just a scratch I had to itch and I'm glad I got it out of my system.
It's cool and all but I'm looking forward to growing out of this hobby.
It's too freakin expensive.....

No matter what you buy for your box it's not going to be a smart investment.
My box would be somewhere around $30K if it would be possible for me to get everything I put into it back out.
But I have 20K miles on it and I doubt I could sell it for $16K.

I'm just going to keep it and hopefully one day make it a trailer queen.....

Right now I don't show it and it's my daily driver.

I would respond to your other post but I don't know what it is......

Yeah I'm having a pair of ear plugs installed around the rear view mirror to protect the ol drums...

I can't back that 155db statement up because I haven't had it metered. But I plan to shortly.
Honestly I'm getting back everything installed this friday so I hope everything is kosher.....
I'll let you guys know and post some pics when I get the chance......

I spent $400

1 Pioneer 12" sub
12" Box
300 watt Amp
Amp wiring kit
Dynamat trunk kit
Line out converter to the stock head unit.

The stock h/u and speakers are fine. I just need the sub to feel that thump in my chest when I'm bumpin' that Master P

120 sq. ft. of eDead V1SE - $144
2 Gallons of eDead v3 - $80
Eclipse 8443 - $400
eDi 6500s - $250(pre-sale price last year)
2 Nine.2X's - $530 for the pair
2 Nine.1's - $600 for the pair
34 Eu-700s - $2720 at their future regular price
Wiring from Knukonceptz - $600 or so so far
3 Yellow Tops(have one, getting 2 more to be safe) - $600
Future Alternator - $500 at least
Fiberglassing and other supplies for that insane install - $100 and people giving me $200 in glassing materials that were laying around
Color matching IIP paint job - $100
Invested time - If I was a shop, this would be at least $3k just for install time...plus my complete documenting of everything ;)

So umm...$9624 or so.

What does it get me...a huge amount of pride that everything, except the paint, was done myself. And something that I can show off and impress the hell outta people.

I spent about $4000 for MB Quart 6.5" and dual 12" system, amps, Stinger dual amp install kit with cap and AVIC-D1 with E-Dead sound dampening. My labor for a few days.

What did it get me? Got me another $3000 in damage as the F*$@in thieves tried for the head unit.

Next time, it might get me 10 years to life if I catch them

Lets see. Here's what I can think of:
-Eclipse 8454 CD deck $305 (plus another 95 for repairs cause the seller is a d1ck)
-Directed Electronics 1100d5 amplifier $150
-Boston Acoustics RC41 Components $200 (in 1996)
-JL Audio 13W1v2 $70 (sweet Ebay deal)
-Tsunami 1/0AWG power cable $0 (from previous install) For new cable go to http://www.darvex.com and get the Stinger PRO.
-Fiberglass resin, mat, bondo, and other materials for custom hand laid kickpanels $125
-Sheet of 3/4" MDF $20.

The results...Priceless. I'll post some progress pics later but so far it's sounding awesome. I hope to have the kicks finished and the box carpeted next weekend. Mark

Pioneer DEH-6700MP $190.00
2x Kenwood 10" subs (800w/each) + custom box + Metra wiring kit + Pioneer 760watt amp + 6ft. Monster 1/8" mini jack-to-RCA (for Ipod) all for $371.00
Double Din mounting kit $22.00
Pioneer IP BUS adapter for Ipod $19.00 (I got this off ebay for like half price where i could find anywhere else, so I can just hook my Ipod up and run in through my AUX)

Total: $602.00

I work @ RadioShack so I got all this stuff at a greatly reduced price...would've been at least $1000-$1200 retail...I know Kenwood subs aren't the greatest but for the $ that I have in all this stuff I couldn't pass it up...and it sounds ssswwweeeettttt!!!! it was an excellent add-on to my factory stuff...plus the new pioneer deck makes the factory speakers sound way better...

Quarter Wave Designs QD-XB-DF + 11Kv.2 + NINe.2 = $350 shipped
Absolute RSW-250 = $20 shipped
Tsunami 4 Ch. LOC + 8 awg Amp kit w/ RCA = $59 shipped
Misc. Wire, connectors, etc. = $30 (local)

Total = $459

All in all an excellent addition to the stock stereo. And the companies I dealt with made the whole thing an excellent experience.
