Default I'm looking for the box building\designing gurus

I'm about to undertake a huge project and need some help getting started with the basic design of the box. The box will be going behind the rear seats of an xB and will be ported. The subs and port(s) will be facing the front of the cabin. Anyone who is up for a challenge, let me know and I will give you more details.

Thanks,

what size cuft do you want the box to be?
whats the tuning frequnecy?
whats subs/size do you plan on using?

you would be better off building the box to look like this:

The subs: 4 Alphasonik PSW815

The amp: Alphasonik PMA1000DA

I've never dealt with "tuning" a port before. Check out the specs and let me know if you think it can be done. I'm looking into a WALL facing forward for competitions.

Let me know.

are you building this for spl comps if so then your port tuning freqency will need to be as close to the freqency resonance of your xb which from what i've beeen told is around 55-60hz...your ideal setup would be a two part port so you can tune low for sq and tune higher for spl burps...if you want i can trace my box and send you the templates so you can make the base of the box to fit perfectly.

That might work, but with the subs facing forward, I don't want them hitting the back of the seat, do you have any clearance there?

And yes, this is for competition....and bragging rights.

nope the box i have has no clearance between the box and the seat
heres a easy way to scribe out your panels:

take a sharpie marker and tape it to a 12" long 1/4" dowel rod
take a piece of cardboard and put a block of wood in between it and the seat (to get the approx amount of room
the take the marker scribe and hold it so it perpendicular to the cardboard and the interior panel and scribe out the shape....
if this makes sense after your done you should have made templates that all you need to do is tranfer them to the mdf and cut out the shape(i leave like a 1/8" xtra on each side)
if everything works test fit and see where you need to sand or cut down
