Default Installed my headunit

I finally got around to installing my headunit in my xb. I used the American intl kit with a metra harness. The radio is a Sony Mex-1hd. This radio has a 10gig hard drive built in..

Congrats, that unit looks awesome! 10GB's! I bet that's cool and here I am thinking having six mp3 CD's is good! Is the readout on the stereo display better than the wimpy display on the Scion OEM head unit?

Cool! :D

yup. the readout on this unit is awesome.. this radio works just like a computer. All you do is put a cd in there, hit record, and it rips it to the hard drive at 8x and lets you listen to it as it rips..

That's really nice. Does it do DVD too? (not that I could afford one ). Question though, what happens if the HD is spinning and you hit a really hard bump? I suppose drives have been getting better though, I've dropped my laptop with no head crash.. but that's scary.

Dayummmm!!! Is that HD upgradeable, too? The ripping thing is awesome and it does it in mp3 format or is it some sort of secure rip (that won't let you transfer it to anther drive...) Actually once it is in there can you get it out (the ripped cd, etc?)

Does it also provide readouts for radio station content? Also, can you play audio dvd's? That's gotta be the next big thing...

Sounds like a great choice of stereo, that's for sure!

this unit does not do dvd's. It plays mp3's but in order to rip it to the hd it has to be in a wav format. It then converts it on its own to a format called artrac3. You can transfer music out of the radio via sony memory sticks.
As for the hd question, ive hit bumps and have never had a prob with the hd stopping or getting stuck or anything in that nature...

thanks for the compliments guys.
