Default Integrating a remote radar detector into the interior of tC

anyone done this? I've got a too good to pass up deal for a remote sensored radar detector, but I'd like to get some creative ideas on where to put the 2x4 inch display. I was thinking of sinking it in flush to the dash display above the center vents, and having it pop up/down in a compartment similar to the NAV units in mazda 3's. Not sure of the difficulty though.

Anyone seen the underside of the dash in the area above the center vents? Any clearance below there?

Ideally I could put a small remotely controlled switch to the left of the sterring wheel that could fold down the radar display when parking for security or after being pulled over.

Or...?

I'm hsving this done as we speak/ Im having it placed right below the vents and above the flip lid. I have a keenwood unit going in where the radio used to be, other wise i would have it in the radio spot with a single din radio.

perfect! Pics please! I'll have to have a look there tonight and see what that might look like. I'd rather save the HU space as I'll eventually get the money for a monitor of some sort.

I've been shopping for a detector and haven't decided on one yet so if anyone has suggestions and pics of their installs I'd love to see them.

Wont fit there.... The Flip up panel tracks in to that spot. I placed mine it in the cubby hole and mounted an LED light that came with my system at eye level. Even though I cant the LED to work. I have a Beltronics pro RX75Plus.
