I have yet to install my alarm on my XB but once it is installed I would like to rig up a way that when my alarm goes off a interior camera will film in my car and save the images to a computer.

Anyone have an idea on how to do this?

 

I don't know the specifics, and you'd have to figure out some way for your computer to turn on when the alarm went off, but you could theoretically use a webcam and set it to only turn on when movement is detected.

 

That is a posibility i didn't think about. I was thinking that when the alarm went off obviously power is going to it so i could tap into it and the camera would come on as well as the computer. Obviously I would have to tap into it in a way that if the alarm was cut it would still continue to record and have power.

But that is a option about the motion detection. I assume it wouldn't go off unless it had motion directly in front of it. I have tinted windows. not sure if a car driving by woudl set it off or not. Although hell i rather have it go off then not go off.

 

Another thing to consider is what the computer would do with the pictures. If you're super ninja you could have it automatically connect to passing wireless networks and email them to you, but that'd be a pretty difficult bit of coding.
