iPhone and factory iPod headunit users...
I have the pioneer factory ipod headunit and before with my iphone 3gs i could play it just like a ipod except a pop up about accy not made for iphone would come up. I have since installed iOS4 and now my factory headunit does not pull any of the songs off the iphone. Both the iphone and headunit show they are connected but nothing happens.
I can however start playing a song on my iphone and when i plug it in the song will play but I do not have any control over the iphone with the headunit. Anyone else have iOS4?

I have the same issue with an older Alpine with iPod. The issue is that with the newest iPod Touch, iPhone, etc. Apple decided to change the charging voltage. Before I could play songs but not charge the phone with the stereo and got the not an authorized message. I ended up getting a voltage adapter from Scosche and now it works fine. The only problem is that it's big and doesn't lock into the phone, so can come loose. Also, it was too big to fit in the slot in the phone case so I had to take a dremel to it.

Knowing how compatible iphones and ipads and ipods are with random equipment, I wouldn't doubt that apple is working on creating an icarstereo at some point. When/if that gets released, the "steve jobs f/u button" will get pressed forcing everyone who wants to connect with the icarstereo to upgrade or die.
I love apple products... it's the consumer directive to forcing planned revenue.

I just finished installing a Pioneer Avic U310BT model in my xA, it works FLAWLESSLY with my iPhone 3G and now my iPhone 4. It doesn't work with my iPad though.
It had a great feature that let's me take complete control of the iPhone so the accessory screen doesn't take over the ipod app. Perfect.

I haven't updated to OS4 because a friend did and his 3G is running so freaking slow now. Plus, he lost 3 different free texting apps... they just open then crash.
That unit is on my list of HUs that I'm interested in and I was wondering how it worked with the newer OS and the iPhone in general since it's an older unit. Glad to hear that it works.

In iPod control mode you can pause the music and play Pandora/Slacker/etc if you want too.
It may be a slightly dated unit in terms of no video capabilities etc., but I didn't really want video & I LOVE the detachable face. Programming routes inside is a great thing to do and so far I haven't had any issues with it at all...
my deck won't play anything from my iPod on my iPhone. It will start playing the song then just drop and disconnect. I can play pandora like before but the whole iPod function is now useless. And everything worked fine before the update.
