Default iPod annoyance with the iPod radio

I picked up my 06 tC a little over a week ago and did the iPod upgrade which the dealer installed. It works great and I’m really pleased with the car so far. The only thing that I just discovered is after I disconnect my iPod from the car, the backlight on my iPod no longer functions. If I reboot my iPod, it’ll function again until I plug it into my car again. It’s really more of an annoyance than anything else, but I was curious if anybody else has experienced this.

My iPod is a 10gig 3rd generation that is running the most current firmware available.

Could be an iPod thing and not a Scion thing. I know my iPod after I use it in my FM transmitter sometimes it goes all crazy and the menu button stops working until I reboot it. I have heard of things like this happening a lot with iPods and external plugin charging accessories. That would be my guess but good luck with it...

I think it might be something with the generation of your iPod. I've heard that the iPod system is really for the newest iPods - or was made for them anyways.

Moved to ICE...

Never had that happen - I have a 15 gig 3rd Generation

Do you have the backlight set to come on automatically? I have mine turned off.

Make sure your ipod has the newest firmware...

edit: I need to learn to read. For some reason, car setups don't work well with all 3g ipods...

I've also experienced this and have a 20GB 3G Ipod.

Apple says it's Scion. Scion says it's Apple. I might try to do a restore on my iPod and see if that fixes the issue, but I'm a little nervous because of some people have had their iPods not respond after a restore. It might just be time for a new iPod.
