iPod + Bluetooth phone connectivity for 2006 xA
Hi,
I just bought a used 2006 xA for my wife. She loves the car, the only things she wants are being able to connect her iPod to the stereo and being able to use the stereo system to make phone calls via a bluetooth connection.
Being new on the xA, I'd like to get the wisdom of the forum members on what the best solutions are. Here is the way I see it:
Current head Unit Pioneer T-1807 with steering wheel control and AUX input jack between the seats
1 - Keep the current head unit
Thanks.
Denis

For the iPod, hopefully find a cable that will allow her to connect the iPod to the head unit, charge the iPod and use the steering wheel controls to move next / previous track.
Find some aftermarket Bluetooth solution that either plug into the head unit or splice in the speaker harness and turns off the headunit sound when a call is made.
2 - Upgrade to a more recent Scion head unitFind some aftermarket Bluetooth solution that either plug into the head unit or splice in the speaker harness and turns off the headunit sound when a call is made.
Get a Scion late model head unit that has full iPod control (and that hopefully will still work with the steering wheel control).
Bluetooth: either some of these head units have bluetooth phone support or get an aftermarket unit.
3 - Get a aftermarket head unitBluetooth: either some of these head units have bluetooth phone support or get an aftermarket unit.
Get a 2 DIN sized aftermarket head unit that will provide both functionality.
It would be great to get some feedback, leads, recommendations on this.Thanks.

Denis,
Without a doubt option 3 and I would recommend the Pioneer Premier FH-P800BT and the steering wheel control adapter.

I drive an 06 xB w/ the aux port and changed it out to the Pioneer Premer single din HU - that does Bluetooth connectibity and iPod control/charging. You will end up spending nearly as much on the equipment to get what you want (if its even possible which I don't think it is) when you can just get an aftermarket HU that does it all.
BTW the only bad thing about the FH-P800BT is it's limited from what I've found with some iPhone stuff if thats the type of phone she has.
I recently changed from the previous single DIN pioneer to the newest so it would charge my 4th gen Nano.

- What is required for the installation (brackets, wiring harness, etc)? Since it's a Pioneer, I was hoping that it would be drop in compatible with the current Pioneer unit. I couldn't find anything on the Pioneer web site.
- What steering wheel control adapter are you using?
Thanks.
Thanks for the suggestion. Actually the FH-P800BT looks pretty good. I have a couple of questions:
- What is required for the installation (brackets, wiring harness, etc)? Since it's a Pioneer, I was hoping that it would be drop in compatible with the current Pioneer unit. I couldn't find anything on the Pioneer web site.

I sent you a PM.
