ipod connection question
The iPod connector is a propritary connection that will most likely never work with any other mp3 player (unless someone manages to come up with an adapter kit, but I highly doubt it).
On the other hand, both versions of the stereo have a generic AUX connector that uses and standard 3.5mm stereo plug. You won't be able to control your mp3 player from the HU like you can with the iPod connector, but it will let you play anything you can plug headphones into back through your car stereo.

When you plug your iPod into your computer to put more songs on it...it's basically the same way in the tC. In the center console, there's a black cable that you plug in your car, and then it plugs into the very bottom of the iPod. If you keep the stock Head Unit, it will say "iPod connected" and then display how many songs there are and which song you are currently playing. I found a picture a while back but can't find it any more. as soon as i get my car and as soon as i get it hooked up, i'll take a picture
As for other mp3 players...i dunno. havn't had the need or chance to go that route yet.
