If you have the iPod option your car should have included the interface cable which hooks up between your iPod and the connector by the ebrake.

Maybe they put the cable in your glove box? If you can't find it, complain at the dealership. They should give you one.

Once you locate the cable, you're in business.

They told you what cable you need.
If you want to control the iPod off of the head unit, you need the dealer supplied iPod cable
It's a proprietary cable, you can't just go to the store and get one.

On the otherhand, there should also be a AUX port by the ebrake too. You can use a 1/8" to 1/8" stereo cable to patch them, but you will have to use the controls on the iPod, you also can't keep the iPod charged using this method.

But yea this is the cable: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/IPOD-...spagenameZWDVW

Next time, relax a bit, they're just trying to help.

First of all, you're a moron for losing the cable if you bought the iPod head unit from the dealership.

Second of all, USE THE STINKING SEARCH!

Here you will find the info on controlling the iPod w/ stock HU.
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...ght=ipod+cable
If you scroll down you will see under "2006 Year Model" the part number for the cable that you need, but since your probably too lazy to look there the part number is PT546-21061

I hope you aren't talking about a $4 cable that looks like this:

Cuz that would make you a BIGGER moron. That cable just plugs into the AUX jack which doesnt let you control the iPod from your HU. But I'm sure you know that already.

Wow, I see someone beat me to be the first to reply to your last comment.
They were really nice about it too. Pfffft
They even posted a link for you. Here's another for your lazy self:
http://cgi.ebay.com/iPod-Interface-c...spagenameZWDVW

Searching does wonders

Ok, lets try this again. There is a connector near the parking brake lever. If it says "AUX" then all you need is a generic $3 audio cable which will connect your iPod's headphone output to the car radio's AUX input. You're done! But this setup will not allow you to control your iPod through the Head Unit of you'r car radio's. Such a cable was shown couple of posts above this post.

If OTOH you do have a connector near your parking brake lever which is marked "iPod" then you can get a special interface cable which will digitally connect your iPod to your car radio's Head Unit. That way not only you can listen to your iPod but you can also control it through the Head Unit and the song titles get displayed on the Head Unit.

This "special" cable is something you can't just buy at Radio Shack. That cable's part number is PT546-21062. Its name is "iPod customer cable". At least that is the number and name written on the bag my cable came in.

You should be able to go to the Parts Dept. in any Scion or Toyota dealership and custom order one.

I think that this covers it all.

For some reason I want to say: no they didnt change.
I read on here somewhere about that.

If I'm not mistaken, I think you can even use the old cables if you got em. But as you said it came with the new one.
Just make sure you're not confusing the AUX jack with the iPod Jack :D

I saw pics of the 2 HU's next to each other from the back. The iPod jack is just upside down on the newer one, but the same plug. As far as the iPod end of the cable, I dont think i saw pics of it, but I want to say its the same...
Let us know how it turns out.

yeah. the ipod jack in the back of the HU is the same (just upside down)...

but down by the ebrake where the connector is, it seems like its a much smaller plug in, i am going to pull my center console today and see if there are any other cables down there that could be the Ipod one...

I will keep everyone posted, wish me luck lol

Thanks for listing the Ipod customer cable part #(PT546-21062). With that I was able to get one on ebay for 26 bucks with shipping.

For some reason finding this cable is nearly impossible. I went to the scion dealership and they just stared at me blankly when I said I needed an "Ipod customer cable" They then proceeded to look through parts books and point out things that werent even close to what I was looking for.

Thanks again, guys

Default iPod Connection

You need to be real concerned if you have an iPod Touch 2G because the iPod cable supplied with my 06xB doesn't fit. I needed to get a Scoshe (sp?) connector for $20. iPod to Scoshe to iPod connection near the handbrake.

thats weird. i thought all ipod products for at least the last 5 years or so, with the exception of the shuffle, all had the exact same ports--the one for charging and the one for headphones. the charging one can be used to control the ipod, and the headphones one can be used to plug into any auxillary port.

The port itself hasn't changed. The only hiccup I know of is the current gen ipods (ipod touch and iphone too) can no longer charge by firewire. Unfortunately the scion uses firewire. If you have a current ipod you need that Sosche part to make the thing work properly.
