Default ipod hiss

Hello,

I just took delivery on my 2006 xA and have been working to get the audio setup as I want it. I deliberately passed on the ipod head unit because I wanted to display the video ipod with this dock:

I was going to run a 1/8" male-male cord from the AUX to the line in on the dock, and did so...until I started hearing a lot of white noise with the music as I turned the volume up. I unplugged the dock and tried again, and no hiss...so the noise is a product of the power coming through the dock. I never had this problem with the same setup in my old Camry.

So...is there a way to neutralize whatever might be causing the noise from the 12V socket? I have a power cleaner on my home system, but never thought I'd need one for the car. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd like to avoid buying a line but if there is a clear favorite that connects the iPod to the stock 2006 unit I'd consider it. I have no interest in controlling the ipod from the stereo controls, so audio in is fine with me. Thanks in advance.
